Summer Training Overview

Summer 2020 Update

Dear friends and potential participants of 2020 UC Berkeley Global Institute for Counseling and Student Mental Health summer training program,

We truly appreciate your interest in our 2020 summer program originally scheduled from 7/6 - 7/17/2020! Congratulations on those of you who have been accepted into our program this year and we were so excited about welcoming you to our beautiful Berkeley campus. However, due to the impact of the COVID-19 global pandemic, we realize that it might not be possible for many of you to travel safely at this time. After careful consideration, we have made the difficult decision to cancel our summer 2020 in-person training program. However, we are committed to continue to build the Global Institute programs both in person and online. We will keep you posted about our next in-person training program and also potentially launch our online training offerings in Fall 2020.

If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to reach out directly to the director of operations, Dr. Christine Zhou at christinez@berkeley.edu. In the meantime, we hope that you continue to stay safe and healthy during this pandemic.

Thank you so much again and look forward towards meeting you soon, both online and in person sometime soon!

Global Institute Programming Team

You are in a position to make a difference.

Through this training institute, you will have the opportunity to deepen your awareness of the mental health issues facing college students today, and to consider an array of best practices that may be adapted in culturally appropriate ways in your home country. This tailored training will help you to develop skills to intervene on your home campuses and put these counseling techniques into practice.

We have designed an intensive program that, no doubt, you will find engaging and thought provoking. In addition, we hope that you will form valuable professional connections with colleagues from around the world, and experience the beauty and cultural richness of the Berkeley and San Francisco region.
